The stress of the war had a very bad effect on my mum’s health. She cried all day long during several months, as a result of which her brain vessels ruptured, her speech and coordination of movements began to deteriorate. In November 2022 my mum fell, couldn’t get up and ended up in hospital. The doctors informed that she had no chance of recovery.

The project is dedicated to the memory of my mum, who passed away on 28 October 2023, exactly one year after my trip to Porto. On 28 October 2022, I was standing on the ocean shore. It was raining, the wind was blowing strongly, and I was taking pictures of the waves and thinking about my mother for hours on end, as if I were enchanted. I really wanted to show my mum the ocean she had long dreamed of, but unfortunately, my mum’s health no longer allowed her to go on such a long journey.
